Arthur Objartel

Arthur Objartel is a Warsaw-based product designer at Evil Martians specializing in developer tools, AI-assisted interfaces, and design systems. His work makes complex software more usable by embedding assistance directly into professional workflows and translating design decisions into rules that engineers and AI coding tools can implement.

From creator products to developer tools

Objartel began designing websites and applications as a freelancer in Minsk while studying at Belarusian State University. From 2018 to 2020, he was the first designer at Mediacube, developing analytics, account-management, and financial products for online creators. At Netcracker between 2020 and 2022, he worked on DevOps infrastructure tools and the NCX Design System. He subsequently joined SplitMetrics in Warsaw as a senior product designer, helping develop its Apple Search Ads platform and first design system.

After joining Evil Martians in 2023, Objartel became the first designer for Wave Terminal, an open-source terminal organized around project workspaces, tabs, command histories, file previews, and theming. He also helped redesign Tegon, an open-source issue tracker, shaping its visual identity and AI-assisted features, including suggested assignees, duplicate detection, smart filters, cycle summaries, and task decomposition.

Designing software that understands the work

• Proactive, workflow-native AI. Objartel rejects the assumption that every AI product needs a chatbot. His approach to contextual assistance starts with work already underway: detecting missing information while someone writes an issue, suggesting relevant questions, or identifying when a complicated task should become several sub-issues. At AI Engineer Summit 2025, he emphasized that recommendations should remain optional, actions reversible, and people in control.

• Programmable color systems. With Evil Martians CEO Irina Nazarova, Objartel presented programmable color workflows at Figma Config. His work on the OKLCH ecosystem connects perceptually informed color, accessibility, browser support, and practical tools shared by designers and developers.

• Direct manipulation for generated interfaces. Objartel argues that AI application builders should let users refine generated software through contextual editing, configurable components, design tokens, and visual controls. He built a radial control-wheel prototype to explore alternatives to endlessly revising prompts.

• Design systems readable by engineers and agents. For automated-testing platform Currents, Objartel developed an agent-readable design system incorporating an AI-assisted interface audit, semantic typography and color tokens, component documentation, icon migration, and Storybook guidance. Its OKLCH palette gives developers and coding agents explicit constraints when modifying color. He has warned publicly about AI-generated design debt: without shared rules, automated changes multiply inconsistent buttons, typography, and visual styles.
