Frédéric Barthelet

Frédéric Barthelet is co-founder and chief technology officer of Alpic, which builds infrastructure for bringing secure, interactive applications into AI assistants. His work combines browser isolation, the Model Context Protocol and TypeScript tooling to help businesses reach customers inside ChatGPT, Claude and other conversational interfaces.

From construction engineering to AI infrastructure

Barthelet graduated from École Centrale Paris in 2013. He worked on Singapore’s national stadium with Bouygues Construction and offshore energy projects with Saipem before joining Theodo, where he developed web applications, founded its serverless business unit and helped organizations including RATP modernize their cloud infrastructure. He also organized ServerlessDays Paris and contributed to Lift, an open-source project providing higher-level infrastructure constructs for the Serverless Framework.

His own projects include typebridge, which adds typed publishing and consumption to AWS EventBridge, and serverless-typescript. In 2022, he argued for serverless architectures less dependent on AWS Lambda, favoring direct communication between managed services when it reduces code and operational complexity. He subsequently worked on cloud-cost management through Revant.

In 2025, Barthelet co-founded Alpic with Pierre-Louis Theron, Nikolay Rodionov, Charles Sonigo and Erica Beavers. He had known Theron and Rodionov since their student days. That September, Alpic raised $6 million in pre-seed funding to develop deployment, security and analytics infrastructure for MCP servers.

Making conversational applications secure and usable

• Double-iframe security architecture: Interactive MCP tools can return HTML interfaces, but embedding third-party code directly risks exposing a host application’s cookies and local storage. Barthelet demonstrates how nested iframes and application-specific subdomains isolate each application while preserving browser features that require a stable origin.

• Skybridge: Barthelet helps maintain Alpic’s open-source TypeScript framework for building interactive MCP and ChatGPT applications. It connects server-side tools with React interfaces through end-to-end TypeScript type safety, provides local development utilities and accommodates differences between conversational platforms.

• Content Security Policy inspection: Skybridge compares an application’s declared domain permissions with its actual network requests, revealing missing permissions before they break production interfaces or trigger application-store rejections.

• Recoverable MCP tool errors: Barthelet advocates returning actionable tool-level failures that explain missing prerequisites, invalid inputs or retry options, allowing an AI assistant to correct course instead of abandoning the task.
